EOD & Search

The pervasive use of explosives by insurgent and criminal organisations presents evolving operational challenges to public safety and military personnel worldwide. The growing trend towards Vehicle-Borne IEDs (VBIEDS) and Person-Borne IEDs (suicide bombers), has compounded the difficulty of providing safety and security in high profile areas such as urban centres and mass transit. In parallel, civilians living in post-conflict countries continue to suffer personal injury and economic hardship due to Anti-Personnel Mines and other Explosive Remnants of War. EPE provides all branches of the explosive disposal community with comprehensive solutions of integrated Counter-IED intelligence, equipment and training to defeat these threats.

Tactical System

Modern tactical operations are conducted in a range of diverse environments and conducted against ever increasingly skilled insurgents/criminals resulting in patterns of complex operations demanding more from operators, equipment and commanders. EPE has teamed with a number of world leaders in this area to provide cutting edge equipment and training with a view to enhancing overall capability and increasing kinetic momentum whilst reducing potential risk to team members.

Umanned Systems

EPE has earned a reputation for providing and maintaining a very capable and comprehensive range of multi-mission Unmanned Ground Systems including Unmanned Groud Vehicles (UGVs) and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) platforms. The UGV platforms vary from micro to large which can include integrated Weapon Systems, CBRN/ HAZMAT sensors, Ground Penetrating Rader (GPR) and various accessory and kits to list a few. EPE is one of Australia’s largest suppliers of UGV’s to the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Law Enforcement. EPE provides a family of high-performance, low-cost aerial systems that can be hand- launched/recovered by a single operator in any weather. Our proven system with combat experience, provides immediate tactical ISR in urban and rural environments to inform the ground forces commander’s decision-making process. EPE is CASA certified and holds Operators Certificate (OC) CASA.UOC.0326.

All Hazards - CBRNe Products

Whether the release or discovery of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNe) materials is accidental or intentional, criminal or terrorist, natural or man-made, the ability to detect the presence of these unseen threats is becoming increasingly important. In order to secure borders and infrastructure, prevent loss of life, disruption to essential services and the execution of a criminal or terrorist act, first responders, military personnel and emergency services need a complete suite of detection and diagnostic tools at their fingertips.

Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) and Exploitation

The prevalence and severity of Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices (RCIEDs) demands maximum protection for those operating in increasingly harsh RF environments. EPE is partnered with Allen Vanguard, a world leader in Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) solutions against the continued and evolving threat of RCIEDs. EPE offers an extensive range of products and services for ECM and Exploitation defence to support vehicle protection (individual or convoy) and protection of dismounted troops to EOD operations (both carry forward and control site protection), static entry point protection and VIP protection operations. Our solutions and other regulatory controlled products are extensively fielded in high-threat theatres around the world.

Counter Drone Technology / Counter RPAS Technology

The emergence of small, lightweight, low cost Drones/ Unmanned Aerial System (UAS)/Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) offers many applications. Adversaries have also realised this opportunity to remotely deploy threats. RPAS can be vehicles for delivering high hazard payloads; can present a threat by their very presence; or as platforms for illegal surveillance. RPAS present one of the most challenging and dynamic threats to Defence Forces on operations, and to Law Enforcement in protecting persons, events and critical infrastructure domestically. RPAS can deliver contraband into Prisons, carry out surveillance of military bases and assets, create havoc at high profile events, and deliver IEDs in combat zones. EPE offers systems to detect, monitor, identify and mitigate such threats, allowing users to safely stop, redirect, land or take control of a suspect drone where legislation allows. EPE has systems currently in-service with several Australian customers. EPE has delivered this capability from initial advice, site survey, installation, training, and ongoing monitoring and support of the system including the provision of weekly reports.

Deployable Infrastructure

Deployed agencies require supporting infrastructure that is robust, modular, scalable and simple to deploy while being efficient, selfsufficient and enabling maximum synergy for transport, maintenance and training. The nature of our operational infrastructure systems enables the configuration to meet any scenario requirements. Our deployable force infrastructure products are varied, flexible, scalable and modular. They are all easy to deploy with minimal manpower requirements and are currently deployed with Military, NGO and UN operations throughout the world.

Crew Survivability

An IED Blast event presents a potentially lethal threat to vehicle crews who must be protected from both phases of a blast event: the initial upward acceleration, followed by a ‘slam-down’ to the ground, potentially into a significant crater and likely without the benefit of the vehicle’s suspension. The heat generated and trapped inside an armoured vehicle can exceed 65 degrees celcius (150 degrees F), overwhelming most conventional cooling capabilities. Extreme heat can jeopardize the mission through electronics failure and can cause loss of focus and heat stress or potentially fatal injury for vehicle occupants.
