ABIS & RMS
ABIS & RMS INTEGRATION
Automatic Biometric Identification Systems & Records Management System
There are many options when it comes to aligning front-line solutions with on-premise or cloud-based central RMS & ABIS databases. Most of the popular multi-modal biometric suppliers can and have participated in NIST testing ( https://www.nist.gov/programs-projects/biometrics ) The results are freely available and we can help your organization in evaluating the best solution that work for the deployments you undertake. Many applications that utlize a RMS/ABIS back-end as part of the total solution are aligned with a particular ABIS mainly due to a past and ongoing partner/development relationship. While we encoureage all applications to be ABIS agnostic thsi may not be the case for 2 reasons:- 1. The ABIS integration is “hooked-in” to the application and will required significant re-develoipment to remove and; 2. The ABIS provider also has frontline solutions and may be use as investment leverage to use their ABIS solution rather than another supplier. It is important to note there are middleware solutions that as an end-user you can be either ABIS agnostic or use various supplier algorithms that are deemed fit-for-purpose fro you deployment and in line with SOP’s.
What is Biometrics? Biometrics is the measurement of physiological characteristics like – but not limited to – fingerprint, iris patterns, or facial features that can be used to identify an individual. NIST has been conducting research in the area of biometrics for over 60 years, with work on fingerprint technologies for the FBI to support law enforcement and forensics dating back to the 1960s
